I had an experience early in the 1990’s where I volunteered at a summer camp for youth and teens with cancer. This profoundly changed my perspective and outlook on life as I learned with glee what it meant to truly live life. I knew from this point on that I would work with people. Looking back, I realize that the lessons taught to me from the youth at this camp are still close to me: live in the present, laugh often, and practice loving kindness. While completing a Bachelors degree at Simon Fraser University I began working as a Youth Outreach Worker with youth, young adults and families. |
So began a 10 year period of providing lay counselling while working for two Social Service delivery agencies. Currently, I work part time as Executive Director of Whistler Community Services Society. While completing my Masters in Education (Counselling) at the University of Victoria I continued to work which allowed me to integrate skills directly. I have lived in Whistler, BC since 1997. I enjoy traveling, yoga and several outdoor recreation pursuits, most notably skiing, surfing and mountain biking. I live here with my partner, son and our sometimes outlandish dog. |
